Superman returns to earth next June

Monday, October 10, 2005: (New Delhi):

Superman, the Man of Steel, is all set to sweep into Next Generation, staging a comeback to earth next June after a gap of several years, in an action adventure.

The film, Superman Returns, was shot in and around Sydney mid-August and will be released by Warner Bros on June 30, next year.

"Rather than being a remake of the original movie, the film explores Superman's influence on our global culture and the impact of his return to earth after an absence of several years" says director Bryan Singer.

Following a mysterious absence of several years, one of the world's most beloved superheroes comes back to earth.

While an old enemy plots to render him powerless once and for all, Superman faces the heartbreaking realisation that he loves, Lois Lane, has moved on with her life, a Warner Bros release said.

Superman's return challenges him to bridge the distance between them while finding a place in a society that has learned to survive without him.

In an attempt to protect the world he loves from cataclysmic destruction, Superman embarks on an epic journey of redemption, that takes him from the depths of the ocean to the far reaches of the outer space. (PTI)

Jodie Foster flies high at Berlin premiere

Thursday, October 13, 2005: (Berlin):

Jodie Foster was in Berlin for the German premiere of her latest movie Flightplan.

Returning to the big screen for the first time since the critically acclaimed Panic Room, Foster gives another strong performance in the claustrophobic Hitchcock style thriller by German director Robert Schwentke.

It's been three years since we last saw the Oscar winning actress, a move, which she says was done to protect her sanity.

"I think it's a good amount of time, it's good to leave it and come back and leave it and come back, I've been working for a ling time so I think if I did nothing but work I'd be crazy," she said.

The film, which has already done very well at the US box office, is set at 40,000 feet on a flight from Berlin to New York. Kyle Pratt (Foster) faces every mother's worst nightmare when her young daughter Julia (Marlene Lawston) vanishes mid-flight.
